We believe in the sustainability of reusing existing building stock, so we are often reimagining what a building can be and as designers we are excited by modern forms. The newness is fundamentally optimistic. It is also important to honor the use and intent of the building while reminding oneself that American suburban retail needs to serve vehicular and pedestrian users. Forms must signal a driver passing by at high speeds while enticing a pedestrian to enter. Finally, the concept must serve the owner as well; providing an exciting backdrop for a potential retailer that is a practical solution relative to existing building and market conditions.
